I surprise you by picking you up from work with a packed bag and driving to the countryside for the weekend. I have rented a cabin in the forest for just the two of us. The air is crisp and clean, and melts away all the tensions of city life. I build a fire in the fireplace while you make us a drink. We sit by the fire eating smoked fish and drinking vodka while laughing and listening to music. I hold you close and play with your hair as you relax in my arms, then we fall aseep in front of the fire. I wake up earlier than you, which is typical, and watch your angel face as you sleep. After a few minutes I get up quietly so not to wake you and make us some tea. In the solitude I can hear my own heart and my mind is clear, a smile on my face. I love spending time with you, especially when its just you and I.
I take your tea to you, but you are still lying there like an angel and I don't want to wake you just yet. I go outside and sit on the steps, drinking my tea and taking in all the natural beauty and fresh air. It feels good to be alive and to be with you.
I hear a shuffling on the floor behind me and look to see you rubbing sleepy eyes and coming out to sit with me. I hug you tight, and wonder what the beautiful day will bring for us. |
